Transilluminators Superbly designed Transilluminators
UVItec offers what is probably the widest range of ultraviolet transilluminators. To make the best possible use of valuable laboratory bench space, there is a choice of unit size between the standard or mini, with footprints of 470 x 330mm and 340 x 260mm. Coomassie blue, methylene and silver stained gels require white light transilluminators and these are available from UVItec in both standard and mini sizes. In laboratories working with all types of gels where space is scarce, combination white light and ultraviolet transilluminators are an economic solution. Also dual wavelength units are produced in mini size. Researchers working with gels and chromatograms who require additional overhead illumination, both white light and ultraviolet, may select the standard size UVIchromtrans range of transilluminators.
UVIvue
standard size transilluminators Are fitted with 6 x 15W high output tubes of the chosen wavelength - 254nm, 312nm or 365nm. The four filter sizes available are 200 x 200mm, 210 x 260mm, 200 x 350mm and 200 x 400mm. All can be supplied as single intensity (STS) or high/low intensity (STX). The low intensity, which is selected by pressing a rocker switch - 70% of high output - is for preparation work avoiding photo damage to DNA. Combination ultraviolet/white light standard size transilluminators for both agarose gel viewing plus protein gels, autoradiograms and microtitrator plates are available. There are three models featuring a 200 x 200mm ultraviolet filter and a 200 x 200mm white light diffuser. These are fitted with 6 x 8Watt ultraviolet tubes of either 254nm, 312nm or 365nm and 2 x 8Watt white light tubes are positioned beneath the plated opal glass diffuser. An alternative approach for viewing visible and UV transilluminated gels with the same transilluminator, is to use the UVItec uv/white light conversion screen (uv/wl-26)
UVIvue mini transilluminators The UVIvue Mini has the minimum footprint (340 x 260mm) with a full size transilluminator filter. Fitted with 4 or 6 x 8Watt ultraviolet tubes of either short wavelength or midrange (254nm or 312nm). Filter sizes of 150 x 150mm, 200 x 200mm or 210 x 260mm are available. The 200 x 200mm filter size is also offered with 6 x 8Watt 365nm long wavelength tubes and a 200 x 200mm plated opal glass diffuser with 2 x 8Watt white light tubes. All the short and midrange versions can be either single intensity or high/low switchable for damage reduction in preparative work at 70% ultraviolet intensity. Combinations of wavelengths with either 200 x 200mm or 210 x 260mm filter sizes can be 365/312nm, 312/254nm and 365/254nm in the dual wavelength mini transilluminators. These are single intensity units with 6 x 8Watt and 5 x 8Watt tubes of the different wavelengths. UVIchromtrans transilluminators Laboratories working with agarose gels and chromatograms or both will find the UVIchromtrans an ideal system for fluorescence and visualization. A standard size high/low intensity transilluminator is fitted with side arms containing ultraviolet and white light enabling any combination of ultraviolet lighting -transmitted or reflected mode -in the three wavelengths, 254, 312 and 365nm. The overhead lamps are individually switched and provide ultraviolet illumination for viewing TLC plates and white light for camera adjustments and visible light photography. In addition to TLC plate viewing, applications can include visualization of nucleic acids on gels using UV shadowing. The two side arms are each equipped with 1 x 8W 254nm tube, 1 x 8W 365nm tube and 1 x 8W white light tube, all independently switched.
